WoMoz Maker Party @ Cummins, Pune (India)

Event report 1.1

This article is about the 2nd MozCafè that was organized for planning few critical things from audience point of view.10th January, 2015 was finalized as event date. 9 days to go and so planning begins.
We figured out the resources we will need to conduct the event. Since computer labs are not available for conducting hands on session on webmaker tools,  modifications were made accordingly in the registration form. Students have been asked to carry their own laptops and internet
connection.

We also introduced this event to Shagufta Methwani, FSA from Cummins college. She will be helping us in organizing the event.

Next we discussed about “how to make the session productive?”. Numerous women related topics were finalized on which discussions will take place during the event. This will motivate attendes towards open source world.

Things to do :

  1. Contact reps
  2. Draft a wiki page
  3. Design a poster
  4. Event publicity

Event report 1.0

Hello mozillians, Mozilla Pune community brings you a WoMoz event this January.

Few days back I was researching about WoMoz community, and I figured out that there is a great potential in it for women to show their skills and talent to whole world. Being a mozillian, with the motto of doing something good, I thought of taking an initiative to strengthen up the WoMoz community in Pune. I contacted Asavari Deokar an FSA from Cummins College for Women and briefed her about the initiative. Bingo !! She said "this looks like a great initiative and lets get started from my college".

We planned out an initial WoMoz meetup. The basic motto of this meetup was to make women aware about womoz and opportunities in open source world. Along with it, we also decided to keep a session on "How to keep women safe ONLINE?"

On 30th Dec 2014, the date and venue was finalized and also an official permission was granted by principal of Cummins College. After the event got a nod from college authorities, we disclosed the event to Aman, Amruta and Prathamesh (FSA).

Aman came up with an idea of making the whole session interactive by conducting hands-on session that will motivate women to begin their journey in Open Source. Amruta and Prathamesh were also present, they helped in planning the event properly.

This time we have decided to break the conventional method of conducting events by incorporating new ideas. Wait for our post event reports to know the details.
